The 7th Annual

J.R. Tucker Free-for-all

is scheduled for Saturday, September 17, 2011.  The Free-for-all is a non-competitive marching band show that includes an on-site workshop.  There are no entrance fees, no admission cost and programs are free.

In addition to the workshop, judges will give written and/or taped comments.  The workshop is designed to be engaging for the students, but with an eye towards the V.B.O.D.A. State Marching Band Festival.  Interaction between directors, students and judges is encouraged!  And the judges understand that the Free-for-all is an early assessment.  Partial shows are welcome!

Seventh Annual

Millbrook Pre-Festival Showcase

Morning Clinic Format and Afternoon/Evening Contest

September 17, 2011

The Showcase: Millbrook High School’s Seventh Annual Pre-Festival Showcase will offer two venues, a morning clinic exhibition and an afternoon/early evening contest.  The clinic exhibition will provide an opportunity for your band to be critiqued without the pressure of competition.  The contest will allow you to have your show evaluated early in the season and still enjoy the rewards of competition.  Our goal is to provide an event that will give you several features:

Clinic Format: Morning exhibition, seven adjudicators/clinicians in caption areas; three on GE with one rotating out to meet students and directors following their performance as a clinician.  The remaining clinician comments will have two in the caption of Music, one in the caption of Visual Performance and one in the caption of Guard.  VBODA State Marching Assessment forms will be used for the critique.

Contest Format: Caption judging with three in Music Performance, two in Visual Performance and two in General Effect based on VBODA criteria.   Morning adjudicators will move to different captions in the afternoon.  We would like to invite you to attend both the morning clinic and the afternoon contest.  Awards will be given.
