Senior Major and Chromatic Scales


All scales are to be played as designated.
Do not exceed the range or tempo specified.
All scales are to be memorized.

Diatonic Scales:
1.  All major scales are to be played the rhythm as for All-Virginia auditions (see All-VA scale requirements page).
 2.  Scales will be called for by pitch name, not concert pitch.

Chromatic Scale:
 1.  Chromatic scale ranges and tempo are the same as All-Virginia auditions (see All-VA scale requirements page).
 2.  Chromatic scales should be played in sixteenth notes (minimum MM quarter note = 120)
 3.  Chromatic scale should be slurred ascending, repeating the top note, and staccato descending
