Introduction

Membership in VBODA District VIII is the same as stated in the VBODA Administrative Handbook.  All non-members are required to pay the current non-member fee in order for schools to participate at each event sponsored by VBODA/VMEA.  Proof of membership is required.

 The following school systems are in VBODA District VIII, “The Peninsula District”:

Hampton
Isle of Wight County
Mathews
Newport News
Poquoson
Southampton
Surry County
Sussex County
Williamsburg-James City County
York County
 

Meetings will be held twice a year.  The fall meeting will be held on the first Wednesday in October at 7:00 PM.  The winter meeting is held in conjunction with District Band and is on that Saturday morning at 9:15 AM.  Both locations will be announced.

• 1st weekend (that includes Sunday as the first Sunday in February) at 9:15 AM Saturday morning

• 1st week - Instrumental Festival registration & fee due
• 3rd week - Instrumental Festival schedule mailed out
• 4th week -  Solo & Ensemble Festival information mailed out
• By the end of the month - District Chairman mails out Winter Meeting Minutes

• First two weekends - Instrumental Festival (Junior & Senior Festivals alternate yearly)
• 4th week - Solo & Ensemble Scheduling (week depends on date of Solo & Ensemble)
• Stage Band Festival registration mailed out

•  1st week - Stage Band Festival registration & fee due
•  3rd week - Stage Band Festival schedule mailed out
